Leeds United have been boosted by the latest images to emerge from Thorp Arch of Lewis Bate returning to training.

The youngster has been sidelined in recent weeks having picked up an ankle injury during the U23’s defeat at Stamford Bridge in March.

Does Bate have a big future at Elland Road?

However, on Tuesday afternoon, the 19-year-old midfielder posted two images to Twitter showing him back in first-team training at Thorp Arch.

Bate has featured just once in the Premier League this season, however, he has made the matchday squad on a number of occasions.

Although Bate has racked up 10 call-ups to the senior squad, only one of those has come since Jesse Marsch’s arrival, with injury keeping him out of their last two games (via Transfermarkt).

After what has been a torrid season for injuries at Elland Road, seeing players slowly return to training can only be a boost for Marsch with a big game against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

TIF Thoughts on Bate’s return…

The Whites are edging closer to securing their spot in the Premier League for next season, so any reinforcements to the squad will certainly be welcomed by Marsch.

In Leeds’ last outing, Kalvin Phillips was the only central midfielder on the bench, with Robin Koch and Mateusz Klich the two starting in the middle of the park.

With reports hinting at a potential departure for Koch in the summer, we do wonder whether Bate may be provided with an opportunity to impress Marsch in the final weeks of the season.
