Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips has taken to Twitter to share a potential hint he may be part of Jesse Marsch’s starting XI at the weekend.

The Whites travel to Watford on Saturday in a crunch clash for their hopes to survive the Premier League drop against the side currently sat second-bottom.

Ahead of the game on Saturday, Phillips responded to a post from the Watford Twitter account showing their manager, Roy Hodgson, showing his skills on the training pitch, to which the 26-year-old midfielder responded: “Praying that Roy’s not playing middle of the park on the weekend haha! What a guy and what a ball, by the way.”

This comes after the Englishman’s recent struggles through injury this season which only saw Phillips return to action last weekend against Southampton for a brief cameo appearance (via Transfermarkt).

After playing a huge role in their 2020/21 campaign, the injury issue has seen Phillips reduced to just 13 appearances in the Premier League this season.

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ return…

Of course, Phillips will be hoping for a positive Leeds result regardless of his availability, but we think a lot of Leeds fans will want this to be a sign the midfielder has been told he will be starting at Vicarage Road in what is set to be a huge opportunity for the Whites.

With Frank Lampard’s Everton losing to Burnley on Wednesday night, three points this weekend would certainly put Leeds in a good position to move a step closer to Premier League safety.

However, Phillips was sidelined for months with a hamstring injury and we think Marsch should be very careful about how he manages his midfielder – despite the high stakes.
