Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Frank Lampard could be sacked by Everton due to his poor away form since his arrival.

What was the fee for Everton paid for Fabian Delph?

Everton have struggled this campaign. Rafael Benitez was sacked in January after his side had won just one of their previous 13 games, which led to the appointment of Lampard. However, he has not managed to have a hugely positive impact, as he has only won two games in the Premier League since his arrival, with zero away from home.

With the poor form of Frank Lampard’s side since his introduction at Goodison Park, Everton have been linked with Rennes boss Bruno Genesio as a potential successor of the English boss if the results on the pitch don’t turn around.

With the news that the Toffees were linked with Genesio, whilst speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke highlighted the chances of him replacing Lampard at Everton in the future.

He said: “It is a possibility. We all know that it hasn’t gone as well as probably Frank Lampard imagined it would at Everton, really disappointing away form, some of the performances haven’t been good enough as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Lampard came into Everton on the back of a poor reign at Goodison Park for Benitez, but evidently, the form has not seen a change under the new manager, as the Toffees remain firmly in a relegation battle, sitting just one place above the drop zone heading into the weekend.

Star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been sidelined for large parts of this season due to injury, and he has been a huge miss for the Toffees after he scored 16 goals in 33 Premier League games last term.

Everton sit three points above the drop zone but have two games in hand over Watford, who sit directly below them in the table, prior to this weekend’s clash against West Ham United. So if Lampard can get a string of results together from now till the end of the season, that should be enough to guide his side to safety.
