Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher is fully focused on a return to his parent club next season ahead of the summer transfer window.

This has been confirmed by football insider Fabrizio Romano as he spoke about the 22-year-old’s future on his Here We Go podcast.

Do you think Gallagher will start for Chelsea?

No

No

Gallagher has just a matter of games remaining on his loan deal with the south London club having spent another season away from Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Bromwich Albion but is believed to be hoping to establish himself in Thomas Tuchel’s side.

And Romano claimed the following on his podcast just a matter of days after Gallagher was forced to sit out Palace’s game against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium:

“On Gallagher, Thomas Tuchel was really clear, he’s always planning good words for this boy.

“But what I’m told, of course, it will depend on the board, it will depend on the ownership, it will depend on many factors. But Gallagher’s position is very clear.

“If he will have the chance in the summer – this summer – to be a Chelsea player, to be part of the squad and to be considered by Thomas Tuchel as an important player for Chelsea, he is prepared to stay at Chelsea to fight for a place at Chelsea. And so Conor Gallagher’s focus is on Chelsea now.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Gallagher has been in sensational form this season on the whole, with eight goals and three assists in the Premier League alone (via Transfermarkt).

However, just two of those goals have come since the turn of the year, which may be a concern to some at Chelsea given their targets are much higher than those at Selhurst Park.

Although it would certainly be difficult for Gallagher to deny himself the opportunity of proving himself at Stamford Bridge, it is clear he had something good going on with the Eagles.
