Joe Thomlinson has been speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel about who has been Arsenal’s biggest disappointment this season.

It has been a rollercoaster of a season for Arsenal who found themselves in the relegation zones after their opening three league game of the season and looked to be in for a tough and slog of a campaign, however, now finishing in the top four is well and truly in their own hands.

No!

Mikel Arteta has done well to get his Arsenal side mentally and physically in the right place to challenge for a spot in the top four, especially considering their squad on average is the youngest in the Premier League and it’s those youngsters that have stood out the most, such as Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe and Martin Odegaard.

However, with the young players playing so well, some of the older heads have been caught out not performing as well, as Thomlinson spoke about.

(17:23) “I want to throw Lacazette into the mix here, I think it’s two non-penalty goals this season in the Premier League, I’m not 100% sure, but Nketiah must have equalled it last night [vs Chelsea] in seven minutes of football or whatever. I think that Lacazette has been one of the holes in this Arteta aside.”

Aubameyang injury update at Arsenal

Where did Arsenal sign these players from, let's start with an easy one! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The French striker had been handed the captain’s armband after former skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed for Barcelona in January, however, that hasn’t fully worked out as Lacazette has recently spoken about how he wants to play in the Champions League, something that Arsenal are fighting for and this has seen him recently dropped by Arteta.

Lacazette, who is valued at £18 million (as per Transfermarkt), hasn’t exactly done himself any favours this season in terms of his performances with just four goals in the Premier League, two of which have been penalties, and given his age and the way Arteta has been recruiting he doesn’t seem to fit into the squad anymore and will likely look for pastures new in the summer as a free agent.
