TIF Thoughts on Ramsey…

Villa supporters will be disappointed with their campaign so far, especially with the club parting with over £100m throughout the season on new recruits. Steven Gerrard’s side are currently 15th in the league table, just eight points above the relegation spots. It would take a number of results for the Villans to drop down to the Championship, but there has to be improvement next term.

However, £19.8m-valued Ramsey has been one of the few players to perform near the best of his ability. Only Ollie Watkins has found the back of the net on more occasions for Villa in the top flight this term, while he has been able to nail down a regular starting spot in Gerrard’s XI.

Although there are several promising players to have recently come out of Villa’s academy such as Carney Chukwuemeka, Ramsey is the only one to really impose himself on the first team. He could provide an example for other youngsters to follow.

That McGinn has shown his own appreciation just highlights how significant Ramsey’s contract extension is for the club.
