Aston Villa’s manager Steven Gerrard has revealed the one thing that annoys him the most on the Overlap Xtra YouTube channel.

Gerrard is now into his sixth month as manager of Aston Villa but it hasn’t always been an enjoyable time. After a great start to his tenure which saw him only lose twice in his opening six league matches, with those defeats coming against Liverpool and Manchester City, he now finds his team on a four-game losing run.

Have you been impressed by Gerrard?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He took over from Dean Smith, who was the man that took them out of the Championship and managed to comfortably keep them in the division last season, and it’s already clear to see why having Gerrard in the dugout has been a good thing, with two very high-profile players of international calibre joining the club in Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne.

However, no matter if they are a high-profile player or just a reserve squad member, one thing will annoy the manager, and the boss has revealed what that as in a recent interview with Gary Neville.

“People being late. Yes [it does happen]. There is [a fine system] but I let the players dominate the majority of the fines, I think it’s important that they run their own dressing room.

“I don’t want to be one of these managers that’s pulling people in, fining people left, right and centre. I think in this day and age, your preparation and what you put in, it should be on the money.”

TIF Thoughts on Gerrard’s main annoyance…

With Gerrard confirming that players being late does occur within the Aston Villa squad and the boss revealing it’s the one thing that annoys him the most, some players may be forced to sit up, take notice and sort their act out.

While punctuality may not be the biggest issue facing the club at the moment, the culture instilled by the manager is important, and this should, if anything, serve as a reminder to the players that having good time management skills could be a way of getting – and staying – in Gerrard’s good books.
