Arsenal took a huge step to securing Champions League football next season, beating fellow top four rivals Manchester United in the early kick-off on Saturday. Their position was then strengthened as Spurs slipped up in the evening game.

Nuno Tavares put Arsenal ahead after just three minutes, before a Bukayo Saka penalty doubled the lead for the hosts. Cristiano Ronaldo responded instantly to halve the deficit before a Granit Xhaka strike sealed the tie midway through the second half.

Despite plenty of action on the pitch, it was what happened on the touchline that got former Sky Sports host Richard Keys talking on Twitter. He shared his views on Mikel Arteta.

He was left outraged with him standing outside of his technical area, Tweeting this: “And why is this irritating man allowed to spend 90 minutes outside of his technical area? Can’t the 4th see this?”

While you’d be surprised if that extra stride forward Arteta took had any impact on the actual game, he has still technically broken the rules and the fourth official should have moved him back.

That being said, most managers venture out of their technical area during the game, so what Arteta did was far from out of the ordinary and certainly wasn’t a big deal like Keys has made out to be on his social media.

You’d be surprised if anything came of it as it is a common occurrence in football and up to the fourth official to be in control of the situation and spot it.
