Football writer Charles Watts has said he has a feeling Aaron Ramsdale will start for Arsenal on Monday evening despite his recent injury.

During the Gunners’ last Premier League game, their goalkeeper couldn’t play in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa as Bernd Leno stepped up instead.

In the time since then, Ramsdale had to withdraw from the England squad during the international break and has naturally been left as a doubt for tonight’s game against Crystal Palace.

While discussing the potential team to start against the Eagles, Watts claimed he has a ‘sneaky feeling’ Ramsdale will be in the starting XI.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “Those are the big questions you look at that Arteta’s kind of facing at the moment when it comes to starting [players against Crystal Palace].

“But I’ve got a sneaky feeling that we’re gonna see probably Ramsdale come back in, in place of Leno, providing he is fit.”

TIF Thoughts on Aaron Ramsdale and Arsenal…

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, Arteta told football.london that the player is a ‘doubt’ as he hasn’t been training.

He explained: “Aaron, it’s a doubt. He’s still feeling not great, he hasn’t trained yet so we don’t know what he’ll be able to do on Monday.”

But more recently, the goalkeeper was at least spotted in training, which could mean he is fit again and certainly bodes well for Arsenal.

With Gunners aiming to be back in the top four by the end of play tonight, they will no doubt want the England international back amongst their ranks. Still, only time will tell whether or not Watts’ hunch is right.
