Journalist and podcaster Ryan McGinlay has been left impressed by footage to emerge showing the work rate of Daizen Maeda from Celtic’s latest victory.

The Bhoys cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win on Saturday against Ross County to maintain their spot at the top of the table.

Should Maeda's deal be made permanent?

Ange Postecoglou’s side were set on their way to three big points at the weekend with early goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis and Maeda.

But it was the Japanese striker’s efforts in the dying minutes of the game which impressed McGinlay, despite the points already being wrapped up for the Parkhead side.

Greek striker Giakoumakis stole the headlines having netted a hat-trick, however, it was apparent Maeda was looking to leave a mark on the game as he piled the pressure on the County defence in an attempt to win back possession.

McGinlay tweeted: “Wait till this guy has a full pre-season. Give this guy a Duracell sponsorship!”

TIF Thoughts on Maeda’s efforts…

This should please Celtic fans massively to see the striker working his socks off despite the Bhoys being four goals to the good with just minutes remaining.

Maeda is still on loan and it appears the 24-year-old is putting all his efforts into trying to land himself a permanent deal with the Bhoys in the summer, with the Hoops having the option of securing his services for £1.38m.

Having come off the boil slightly after a bright start to life at Parkhead, the striker has shown signs of regaining his form with two goals in his last two league games (via Transfermarkt).

And given Postecoglou is without Kyogo Furuhashi, we think this type of effort will be greatly appreciated by the Australian manager.
