Leeds United: Mike Grella claims the club have the best fans after dramatic Norwich win

Former player, now pundit, Mike Grella has claimed Leeds United fans are ‘the best’ after seeing footage from their most recent game.

Over the weekend, new boss Jesse Marsch claimed his first victory with the club in the most dramatic fashion. Indeed, after Kenny McLean had scored an equaliser for Norwich City at the start of injury time, the game seemed to have been decided. However, youngster Joe Gelhardt then struck in the 94th minute to give Leeds an incredible win.

A video on Twitter, shared by ESPN FC, caught the moment Elland Road exploded in a stunning display of rapturous joy and pure delirium as the goal went in.

Taking note of the impressive show of support, Grella Tweeted: “This one’s for all my ex teams that get upset when I say Leeds fans r the best….wow @LUFC.”

On its own, the manner of the victory would have been cause for great celebration. But as this was against a relegation rival, and the Yorkshire club had not won in their past eight games, it was all the sweeter.

As a result of that crucial win, Leeds are now four points above the bottom three and will be feeling somewhat safer after a shaky few weeks.

Grella played for the club between 2009 and 2011, but with a whole host of other teams under his belt across the span of his career – across England and America – he’s certainly well placed to say what club’s fans he believes are the greatest.

Judging from the footage, it’s fair to say the Leeds faithful gave their best over the weekend.
