Football writer Mark Guidi has revealed there is talk that Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi could be available for the club’s first game after the international break.

Injury has meant that the striker has not actually played for the Bhoys since a 15-minute cameo off the bench against St Johnstone on Boxing Day last year.

Having missed all of the club’s games in 2022 so far, Kyogo could finally have a return date as Guidi was able to provide an update while speaking on the Go Radio Football Show.

Indeed, the journalist explained that there are ‘murmurs’ that the player could be fit again in early April. He said: “On Kyogo, well, there’s one or two murmurs that [he’ll be] available for the first game after the international break, which is Ibrox on April the 3rd.

He went on to add, however: “So if it was to be the case, if that’s accurate, and he’s available for the game at Ibrox, I wouldn’t imagine that he would start unless there’s an injury problem to Maeda or Giakoumakis.

“But certainly having somebody like Kyogo on the bench, what a lift that would give to Celtic – to the manager, to the players, to the supporters – albeit, there won’t be Celtic supporters in the ground.”

TIF Thoughts on Kyogo and Celtic…

Considering how tight things are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, it’s easy to see why Guidi feels this would be a huge boost for Celtic.

Indeed, the Bhoys currently top the league by just three points and so the Old Firm game against Rangers – who are second in the division – could be a pivotal moment in each team’s campaign.

No doubt, Celtic would feel a lot more confident about the match if they had their top goalscorer available to play a part, even if it is just from the bench.
