Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that David Moyes needs to make a big decision in the summer regarding the future of Said Benrahma.

Benrahma has featured regularly for West Ham this season, making 25 appearances whilst contributing with five goals and six assists, according to Transfermarkt.

Jarrod Bowen has been excellent however for the Hammers this year, with 18 goal involvements in 28 Premier League appearances, and has cemented his place in the starting XI.

It’s meant Benrahma has had to watch from the bench on occasion, something he has done four times this season.

Despite having four years left on his contract, Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT that Moyes may have to decide on whether to keep Benrahma in the summer.

“He’ll be one of those players Moyes has a big decision to make on in the summer,” Jones said.

With Jones reporting that Benrahma could leave the Hammers in the summer, we pointed out two knock-on effects that a move away for Said Benrahma could cause for West Ham.

GSB won’t be happy

West Ham brought in Benrahma from Brentford in 2019 for a deal that could reach up to £30m if certain clauses are met. So, GSB will be furious if they are now considering cutting their losses on a player soon after signing him.

Blow for Moyes

David Moyes does have cover in that area of the pitch, in Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals, but Benrahma has been in good form at times as well for the Hammers this season. In his most recent Premier League game, the Algerian provided both the assists for his side, when they beat Aston Villa 2-1 at the London Stadium.

Moyes would have to seek elsewhere for a replacement if Benrahma was to exit in the summer, and this could cause an unnecessary headache for the Scottish manager because he knows that the Algerian can cut it in the Premier League and it may be a risk spending money on a winger who may not have the same effect.
