West Ham United podcaster Dan Lawless has given his thoughts on the club potentially signing Ivan Toney at some point in the future.

David Moyes did admit an interest in the striker when he was at Peterborough.

Toney has put up some impressive numbers recently, with a then-Championship record of 31 goals last season as the Bees were promoted, and has managed to break the double-digit mark in the Premier League this season, so it’s clear that he knows where the goal is and could have made an impact on the current Hammers side if they’d have been able to bring him in.

A staple of FIFA Ultimate Team in 2012, which Nigerian striker had a disastrous spell at the Hammers?

With Brentford’s place in the Premier League far from secure, as well as their strategy of flipping players for a profit and rebuilding, there is the chance that West Ham could have the opportunity to sign him again this summer.

But taking to Twitter, Lawless claimed that he didn’t want it to happen, citing some of his problems off the field as his reasoning.

He wrote: “I’ve seen a lot of West Ham fans say we should get Toney in the summer. I want him nowhere near our club, the guy is a complete clown who’ll just upset the dressing room.”

TIF Thoughts on Dan Lawless’ comments about Ivan Toney and West Ham United…

Would Ivan Toney's attitude put you off signing him?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Toney has made a name for himself recently for his attitude when it comes to his current employers, saying that the club aren’t exciting whilst also using some expletives to describe them in another video back in January.

So Lawless is right to question his attitude, especially as the evidence is there to prove it, although whether this is just the case because of the club he’s at or his attitude would change if he made a move to a bigger side remains to be seen.

Either way, there’s no doubting his ability on the pitch, but whether or not that will be enough to convince a team like West Ham to show an interest again in the summer is a totally different matter.
