Rodrigo Bentancur pulled off a sensational piece of skill in Sunday’s win which left the entire Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd holding their breath.

This is according to the Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold, who was reporting from the press box on Sunday in north London.

Spurs won in style against London rivals West Ham United on Sunday, with three big points certainly improving their hopes of a spot in the top four.

Gold picked up on a moment from the game where Bentancur – on the edge of his own box – fooled two Hammers players as he turned away to turn his interception into a Spurs attack.

And it was apparent the Uruguayan had impressed Gold as he awarded the 24-year-old midfielder with an 8/10 rating for his performance against David Moyes’ men.

Gold wrote for football.london: “In particular the Uruguayan is getting better and better. He produced one moment in the second half that evoked memories of Mousa Dembele.

“It was the coolest, calmest yet scariest pirouette on the edge of his own box. Two West Ham players were sent the wrong way while everyone in the stadium held their breath for a moment.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We are pretty sure everyone who was watching the game on Sunday will also have held their breath as the midfielder turned on the edge of his own box with two West Ham players closing in on him.

It was an extremely risky move to make given the position on the pitch he was in, however, he pulled it off in style and it added to what has been an excellent start to life in north London for the 24-year-old.

Bentancur has been a huge part of Antoni0 Conte’s XI since he signed in January and with moves like that, he is definitely making his mark on the Spurs fans.
