Football injury expert Ben Dinnery has given his thoughts on the injury situation surrounding Tomas Soucek at West Ham United.

David Moyes’ men are getting set for a pretty big game in the Premier League this weekend as they look to maintain their push for a spot in European football for next season.

They are getting set to take on Liverpool, who are deep in their own battle for the title and currently possess the best attack in the division, with 70 goals scored in the league, so West Ham United will need to be at their best if they’re to stand a chance of picking up a result.

And even though he picked up a rather nasty-looking head injury during their FA Cup tie in midweek against Southampton that required stitches, injury expert Dinnery thinks that the Czech international should still be good to go for the Hammers against Jürgen Klopp’s men.

A staple of FIFA Ultimate Team in 2012, which Nigerian striker had a disastrous spell at the Hammers?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Dinnery suggested that Soucek is no stranger to getting himself in these sorts of situations and that he expects him to be ready and available for the game on Saturday.

He said: “A quick update on Tomas Soucek. He was forced off following a facial injury that did require stitches. We’ve been here before with Tomas, he likes to put his head in where it hurts. Post-match, David Moyes didn’t have an update. He hadn’t spoken to the medical team, but like I say, unless it’s something massively problematic, I don’t see Tomas Soucek missing out on this one.”

Has Soucek been West Ham's best player this season?

Dinnery’s assessment of the situation should come as good news to West Ham, as the 27-year-old has been an integral part of the side this season.

He currently ranks in the top five for tackles, interceptions, clearances and blocks per game, whilst also sitting in the top 10 for key passes and long balls and leading the side when it comes to aerial duels won per match (via WhoScored), although whether or not his injury will dictate just how effective he can be when it comes to winning balls in the air, we’ll just have to wait and see.

But someone of Soucek’s influence when it comes to the defensive side of the game could very well be crucial when it comes to trying to keep that Liverpool attack at bay, so whilst Dinnery suggests he might be fit to play, you have to hope that he’s at a decent level to perform, because they’re certainly going to need it.
