Image for West Ham United: Fresh update arises on Rice and Bowen injuries

ExWHUemployee has said Declan Rice will be available for selection for West Ham United ahead of their Sevilla clash – but Jarrod Bowen is set to miss the game due to injury.

Rice was absent in the 1-0 away defeat against Liverpool last Saturday due to illness, but a fresh update has arisen stating that he has been training with the squad ahead of tonight’s Europa League game.

Whereas, Jarrod Bowen, who was subbed off in the 53rd minute at Anfield due to injury, is set to miss the game in Spain tonight, but should be fit for the return leg at the London Stadium.

ExWHUemployee has updated the Hammers faithful on the two English stars’ availability for the game on The West Ham Way Patreon page.

He wrote: “We can confirm that Declan Rice is available for selection and expected to start against Sevilla. Sadly, Bowen looks like he will miss the game, with the second leg against Sevilla looking like his return date.”

TIF Thoughts on the update…

Rice has been excellent in the Europa League this season for West Ham – he has an average match rating in his last four games of 7.30 in the competition, as per SofaScore. So, it will surely be a huge confidence boost that the England international is set to start for the Hammers tonight.

Meanwhile, Bowen has 18 goal contributions in 28 Premier League games for the Hammers this season, so he could be a huge miss for David Moyes’ side tonight in Spain.

There was a rare start for Nikola Vlasic on Saturday against Liverpool and he has started just five times for the Hammers in the Premier League this season, so with Bowen out, he could start tonight against Sevilla.
