David Moyes will have been left furious with footage to emerge on Twitter from West Ham United’s defeat on Wednesday night.

The Hammers were dumped out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 defeat away to Southampton on Wednesday night, with some major questions needing to be asked of the three centre-backs.

Can the Hammers still make top four?

No

Footage of the final goal in the game at St. Mary’s will not have pleased the 58-year-old at all, as Armando Broja sailed through the West Ham defence to seal the victory.

The clip from the dying minutes of the game showed the Hammers back three of Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop all stand off the Chelsea loanee before he slammed the ball home.

Although the goal came deep into stoppage time and with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side already ahead, the defensive commitment will surely concern the Scottish manager.

On the whole, Moyes’ defence has proved pretty firm this season, with the same number of goals conceded as Manchester United (34).

However, there have been a couple of below-par defensive displays since the turn of the year which have seen Moyes’ backline breached by sides lower in the table.

The game against Leeds United is perhaps the most prominent, as despite a number of Leeds injuries, the Hammers were unable to keep the Whites at bay and ended up shipping three goals and lost 3-2.

Moyes’ men have scored the fourth-most goals in the Premier League this season so they have often been able to outscore their opponents.

However, defensive displays such as that on Wednesday night will not fill Moyes nor the fans with confidence ahead of the Premier League run-in.

With the Hammers now out of the FA Cup, their attention will be firmly set on their European clash coming up in the Europa League and their efforts to secure a spot in Europe for next season.
