Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Darwin Nunez will be top of the list for West Ham this summer in hope of strengthening their squad.

Nunez has been in fine form this season for Benfica in Liga Portugal after he scoring an impressive 20 goals in 20 league appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

This form has sparked the interest of Premier League clubs such as West Ham, and Pete O’Rourke has told GIVEMESPORT, that he believes Nunez will be a “top target” for Moyes in the summer.

“Darwin Nunez probably will be the top target, I think, for West Ham. But again, a lot will depend on who else does come in for the Uruguayan in the summer, whose had another good season for Benfica, doing well in the Champions League.” O’Rourke claimed to GIVEMESPORT.

What knock-on effects could the arrival of Nunez have for West Ham?

Upgrade on Michail Antonio?

Michail Antonio has been a good servant for West Ham over the years, and this season has featured in 26 Premier League games, whilst scoring eight times and registering seven assists, as per Transfermarkt. However, the Jamaican has experienced a drop in form at times this season, and hasn’t netted in his last seven Premier League fixtures.

Darwin Nunez is just 22-years-old and has an emphatic goal record this season. So, not only will it be an immediate upgrade on the 31-year-old Antonio from the performances on the pitch, he still has time to develop into an even better player, so will potentially continue to be an upgrade in the future from Antonio.

Partnership with Jarrod Bowen?

Jarrod Bowen has been in inspiring form this season for West Ham, and has managed a whopping 18 goal contributions in 27 Premier League appearances. Nunez could be the perfect player to compliment Bowen if he was to join the Hammers in the summer.

Nunez has the capabilities to play anywhere in the attacking third, so is comfortable floating about the pitch and linking up with different players. One of Nunez’s main strengths is finishing, and like Bowen has shown this season he can provide regularly for his teammates, so if Nunez does join West Ham in the summer, then they could form a dazzling partnership.

Dubbed as having the potential to be “world-class” by Jorge Jesus, the man with 59 career goals to his name could wreak havoc with Bowen.
