Journalist Alasdair Gold has expressed excitement at the idea of what Tottenham Hotspur can become after a full pre-season under Antonio Conte.

Having arrived midway through the current campaign, the club’s Italian manager obviously did not have a lot of time to work with his players before leading them into action.

However, he should have the chance to tinker with his plans for the club this summer when the club travel to South Korea for pre-season. And if he is backed in the transfer market, things could really start to come together nicely.

Will Spurs back Antonio Conte this summer?

Yes

No

No

With that in mind, Gold confessed that he is ‘very excited’ about what the future could potentially hold, as long as there are no major complications.

Talking on his YouTube channel, he said: “If everything goes to plan, [I’ll be] very excited.

“Honestly, if Conte’s backed, and getting to go to South Korea, having the whole pre-season thing – a Conte pre-season will be huge for this club and for those players.

“If it all happens right, I’ll be very excited.”

TIF Thoughts on Antonio Conte and Spurs…

It’s interesting to hear that, despite his enthusiasm, Gold is clearly still hesitant about what the future could hold, emphasising the point ‘if Conte is backed’.

No doubt, he says this with the Italian’s past in mind. Indeed, the manager is only at Spurs because he left Inter partly because he felt they wouldn’t back him in the transfer market.

However, the jury remains out over whether or not Daniel Levy will be happy to splash the cash when Conte comes calling. Indeed, Neil Warnock recently told TalkSport (via HITC) that he doesn’t feel as if that will happen.

“They need the backing,” said Warnock. “I am not sure Daniel will put his hand in that much to get the players that they needed, really.”

Despite that, if all does go to plan, Conte’s plans for an ambitious Tottenham future could really start to take shape this summer.
