England won their opening game of 2022 after coming from behind to beat Switzerland in a friendly at Wembley.

Breel Embolo fired the visitors ahead midway through the opening 45, before Luke Shaw levelled things in first half stoppage time. With little over 10 minutes to go, England managed to find the winning goal when Harry Kane converted from the penalty spot.

Although most of the plaudits were quick to hail the likes of Conor Gallagher for his performance, the England captain was still singled out.

Kane was praised for his reliability from the spot by Sky Sports’ Alan Smith. The former Arsenal hero had the following to say on Kane: “He is so good at penalties!”

In his career, he has now scored 50 penalties, only missing eight. An impressive record from the number nine who is set to keep breaking goalscoring records. Whether it be for club or country, the prolific forward carries on to close down personal goals.

It was a memorable night for Kane, despite it only being a friendly. His penalty saw him notch his 49th goal for the Three Lions, moving him beyond Gary Lineker and drawing him level with Bobby Charlton. He is now just four goals off matching the record set by Wayne Rooney, something that will be broken inevitably you feel.
