Journalist Dean Jones has given his thoughts about Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and a possible future away from the club.

The England captain has been subject to plenty of transfer talk for some time now, with the debate and rumours about his future dominating the transfer window last summer – and it looks as if that is going to be the case yet again this year.

A recent report from The Athletic has hinted that Manchester United could throw their name into the hat to try and sign Kane as they look to get back to being the cream of the crop in the Premier League once again.

Speaking about the potential move on Touchline Talk, Jones claimed that whilst he felt that a move to Old Trafford could be possible, former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino might have a part to play in proceedings.

He said: “I think Man United, the option there is definitely interesting. I feel like Pochettino and Kane want to be reunited and I think that if that opportunity came, it would happen. The problem obviously is that Pochettino doesn’t look like the frontrunner right now for that Man United job – looks like it’s probably going to [Erik] Ten Hag.

“I’m still not totally ruling out Pochettino, I don’t believe that it’s totally done and dusted just yet. But it looks like the most likely landing spot for Harry Kane if he does leave Tottenham.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments about Harry Kane and his future…

Will Harry Kane leave in the summer?

Yes

No

No

Pochettino is one of the men that have been put on the shortlist at Old Trafford for the manager’s job, so putting the link together that a move for the Argentinian to Old Trafford might mean the same for Kane does make sense, particularly given how well Kane played when he was under him at Spurs.

However, as Jones hints at, the fact that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has been in talks with Manchester United over the role does suggest that they might not be going with Pochettino this time around, which might quash any idea that he is moving to Old Trafford.

This should make Spurs fans incredibly happy, because the fewer teams that are in for Kane, the higher chance that he’ll stick around in the summer.
