Oliver Skipp has been sidelined due to injury for some time now and is set to miss the game on Monday night against Everton.

Skipp has been heavily involved in the Spurs side this season when fit, featuring 18 times in the Premier League alone, according to Transfermarkt.

The last time Skipp played however was on the 23rd of January against Chelsea in the Premier League when Spurs lost 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The Guardian has reported that Skipp will be in the stands on Monday night against Everton, much to Antonio Conte’s frustrations.

With Skipp set to miss another game for Spurs, what knock-on effects could this have ahead of Monday night when they host Everton?

Big blow for Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte has shown his frustrations towards the Spurs medical team as on the 8th February, they said they would have the English midfielder back in two weeks, but the Italian insisted that it would be 10 days at most. The eagerness to get the midfielder back on the pitch from the Spurs boss is an indication of just how much of a big blow it is that he is sidelined further.

Skipp has produced impressive performances this season for Spurs after last season’s successful Championship campaign with Norwich. In a few games before his injury, he shone brightly against Crystal Palace and was given a rating of 7.4, as per Sofascore, as he helped his side win 3-0.

Who will feature instead of Skipp?

It is almost a given that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will feature in the heart of midfield for Spurs, having featured 23 times in this Premier League season, so it just remains to be seen who will partner the Denmark international in midfield.

Conte has announced that Rodrigo Bentancur is available for selection on Monday night, but he hasn’t featured since his injury against Burnley. So, whilst he may be a risk, there are few options elsewhere for Conte to choose from.

Harry Winks is the other midfield option, but was poor in Spurs’ FA Cup exit on Tuesday night against Middlesbrough, and was awarded a match rating of just 6.2, as per Sofascore.

So, Conte has the choice of either risking Bentancur or starting an out of form Winks.
