Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has slammed England fans for their behaviour towards England teammate Harry Maguire.

Last night, the Three Lions took on Ivory Coast in an international friendly and won the game comfortably thanks to goals from Ollie Watkins, Raheem Sterling and Tyrone Mings.

The game, however, was marred by a section of the Wembley crowd who opted to boo starting centre-back Maguire.

In light of their poor lack of support for one of their own players, Kane took to Twitter to condemn those fans and protect his teammate.

He wrote: “We’ve worked hard to rebuild our connection with @England fans in the last few years so to hear @HarryMaguire93 booed at Wembley before kick-off was just not right.”

In a follow-up tweet, Kane added: “The fact that he’s been brilliant on the pitch and given us all so many great memories makes it even harder to understand. He doesn’t deserve that reception. He’s got full support in the changing room and should have the same from every England fan.”

TIF Thoughts on Harry Kane and Tottenham…

Maguire hasn’t had the best times of late at club level with Manchester United, but that is something perhaps Kane can relate to.

Indeed, earlier this season the Spurs striker was booed for some poor performances which came off the back of a supposed desire to leave the club in the summer.

Since then, the 28-year-old has managed to rediscover his goalscoring touch and now has 22 goals to his name for Tottenham in all competitions this term.

Kane has also continued to shine for his country and managed to go above Gary Lineker’s tally and equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 49 goals for England during this international break.

Spurs fans, however, may be impressed by this show of leadership towards Maguire most recently.
