Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust co-chair Martin Cloake has claimed that season ticket issues are causing  ‘dissatisfaction’ amongst fans.

Recently, the north London club announced that they would be freezing ticket prices for next season. While this would have come as good news for some, supporters may well be concerned by the fact that they will have to pay for those tickets before the end of the current campaign.

This means they won’t know whether they will be paying to see their club play in the Champions League, or at another level in Europe (if at all), depending on where they finish in the league this term.

That choice was criticised by the Supporters’ Trust at the time, and when speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Cloake spoke of how the cost of season tickets has caused an ‘undercurrent of dissatisfaction’ within the fanbase.

He said: “I think that there is a real undercurrent of dissatisfaction that’s bubbling up. And I think some of that is to do with the price of the season tickets.

“And we said to them at the time, ‘You are making a rod for your own back’.”

TIF Thoughts on ticket prices and Spurs…

According to a recent TIFO YouTube video (4:30), as of the summer of 2021, when it comes to having the most affordable season tickets in the Premier League, only Arsenal make their fans pay more than Tottenham.

With that in mind, while it may be good news that the club have decided not to increase those already steep prices, it’s not as if that fee was low in the first place.

And so, it certainly makes a lot of sense for fans to have higher expectations on the pitch. Sadly, those have not been met in recent times, with the club struggling to claim a Champions League spot this term, having failed to do so in the previous two seasons.

All in all, it’s easy to see why Cloake feels like there are issues ready to bubble up at the club and they relate directly to season tickets.
