Journalist Keith Downie has claimed that Eddie Howe will not be looking to rush Callum Wilson back to action after his injury.
Wilson is still the Magpies top scorer in the Premier League, despite not featuring since December after he got injured against Manchester United. He has scored six goals so far this term, with Allan Saint-Maximin a close second with five.
Callum Wilson is set to return to action in the coming weeks for Newcastle, but when speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Keith Downie said that Eddie Howe will be in no “rush” to get the English forward back on the pitch amid his potential return to Darsley Park.
“I think we might see Wilson back a little bit earlier [than Trippier]. But I think because the team are doing so well at the moment, there’s not a need to rush them back,” Downie said.

Huge boost for Howe?
Eddie Howe signed Chris Wood in January from Burnley for £25m to act as a replacement for Callum Wilson whilst he is sidelined. Although Newcastle have seen a change in form since the turn of the year, Wood has scored one goal in his opening eight games in a Magpies shirt.
It will be a huge boost for Howe to get Wilson back fit for his side, as their current forward has just four goals in 27 appearances this season for both Burnley and Newcastle, which is a goal every 569 minutes, compared to Wilson who has a goal every 198 minutes.
Survival secured?
Newcastle have been in good form as of late and have lost just twice in their last nine games. This fine form means that they find themselves on 31 points, which is nine above the drop zone, so they will be hoping that they can continue the good form for the remainder of the season to ensure top-flight status for next season.
Wilson’s return could have a huge impact on the chances of Premier League safety for Howe’s side. If he can continue his fine goalscoring form for the remainder of the season, then that should be enough to get some important points and secure survival.
