Phil Hay has revealed the one major change that Jesse Marsch will bring to Leeds United.

Marsch will be heading to the King Power Stadium for his first match as a Premier League manager knowing that he doesn’t have time to settle in at Leeds United considering they’re just two points off the bottom three.

Will Marsch keep Leeds in the Premier League?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Leeds have shipped 10 goals in their last two matches losing 6-0 and 4-0 against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, so Marsch will surely have to address this and figure out why Leeds have been so easy to pick off.

Hay, while speaking on The Phil Hay Show, had claimed that Marsch may well ditch the man-to-man marking now.

“I think you’ll see, and I would assume pretty quickly, a shift from man-to-man, to zonal marking. So away from what Bielsa did off the ball to a different system under Jesse Marsch.

“You will also see when it comes to pressing, that they will hunt in packs rather than hunting man-to-man. So they’ll try to attack individual players with multiple bodies, rather than having it one on one all over the pitch.”

TIF Thoughts on Marsch at Leeds…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Hay appears to be rather confident that the man-to-man marking will no longer be a feature at Leeds, so it will be interesting to see how they get on against Leicester City and if this tactic that was being implemented by Marcelo Bielsa was really the problem.

While Leeds and Marsch will be hoping to experience a new manager bounce, it’s not a guarantee given who they are facing and that Leeds themselves are rock bottom of the form table, which would suggest it’s going to take more than just a fresh voice to turn their season around.
