Journalist Beren Cross was critical of Mateusz Klich for his lacklustre display last night against Wolves despite his side getting an important three points.

Last night, Wolves went two goals up early on and the game looked dead and buried, but thanks to a 92nd-minute winner from Luke Ayling, the Whites went on to win the game 3-2.

Klich has been a regular in the Leeds first-team this campaign, featuring in 25 Premier League games for his side, according to Transfermarkt, and has started in three out of new boss Jesse Marsch’s four matches.

The Polish midfielder has been one of the lucky Leeds players who hasn’t been sidelined due to injury this campaign, but he has struggled to reach any admirable form for his side, and  Cross highlighted a poor display last night against Wolves in his player rating piece for Leeds Live.

“Mateusz Klich, Looked overrun by Wolves and delivered no control in the middle of the park for Leeds. 5,” Cross said

TIF Thoughts on Mateusz Klich…

Klich has been in poor form this season in a struggling Leeds United side, managing an average player rating of just 6.75 in the Premier League, as per Sofascore, whilst scoring just once, registering two assists, and creating only one big chance all season.

His performance last night in the victory against Wolves was a reflection of his season – he made zero key passes, had zero shots, and topped it off by making zero tackles in the entirety of the game, as per Sofascore, though he did come off in the first-half.

Klich may well have seen his game time limited this season due to his poor form, but because of the severe injuries that the Whites have had, including midfield maestro Kalvin Phillips, there has been very little option but to play him.

However, Phillips did feature on the bench for Leeds last night so may act as a replacement for Klich in the upcoming weeks.
