Leeds United journalist Beren Cross has revealed a touchline claim from the Whites’ recent defeat in the Premier League at the weekend.

The Leeds Live reporter was at the game on Saturday and kept a close eye on Jesse Marsch, who was seen shouting on the sideline in what was his first game in charge.

Do you trust Marsch to keep Leeds up?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Having been appointed earlier in the week, the American was unable to guide his side to three points against Leicester City, but did get an improved performance out of his players.

Leeds were able to register 19 shots during the game, but there was a clear lack of quality in front of goal, with just four of them directed at Kasper Schmeichel’s goal (via SofaScore).

And Cross recalled a moment where the 48-year-old was left screaming on the sideline at Mateusz Klich to apply pressure on the Foxes.

He wrote: “In the 59th minute, there was a moment where Leicester had the ball near halfway with nobody in white pressing.

“Marsch, bent over and pointing, was screaming for Klich to apply pressure and it wasn’t coming.

“Later, as Jack Harrison snuffed out a dangerous Leicester counter, Marsch was pumping his arms in the air and celebrating like this team had scored.”

TIF Thoughts on Cross’ comments…

The game at the weekend against Leicester did see some improvement from the Whites, who created enough chances to get something out of the game.

And we think supporters should be encouraged by Cross’ comments that Marsch – despite the general improvement – was still seeking more from his players from the sideline.

Leeds are still sitting outside of the relegation zone – albeit just. But it is clear there is still work to be done during the week, with the Whites now without a goal in their last three league games.
