Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that the victory over Norwich on Sunday would have been a massive relief for Victor Orta, who is the Director of Football at Leeds United.

Jesse Marsch picked up his first win as Leeds manager on Sunday after Joe Gelhardt grabbed a 95th-minute winner for the Whites against Norwich City.

A video emerged after the game of Orta getting emotional on the side-line after victory, due to it being his side’s first win in eight Premier League games and the first win for the new gaffer that he appointed.

Dean Jones spoke to GIVEMESPORT and commented on the video saying that it was a “relief” that Jesse Marsch got his first win under his belt as Leeds boss.

“Honestly, I think it’s relief. I think there has been so much pressure around this decision. I think that was just a moment in which he will be believing and hoping that things are about to turn a corner,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’s comments…

Marcelo Bielsa was sacked by Leeds after his side conceded 20 goals in his last five matches, and Leeds chairman described the sacking as a “tough decision”, but they were on a downwards spiral and it didn’t look like things were going to change.

Bielsa struggles this season could be argued to be largely down to the injury crisis that his side suffered. But now Jesse Marsch has Patrick Bamford back, and there are rumours of a return for Kalvin Phillips, so this will be a huge boost for the Whites as they look to secure Premier League safety.

Indeed, Marsch and Orta will both be hoping that the recent win over Norwich is a sign of things to come as they’re still not out of the woods with the likes of Everton and Burnley having three and two games in hand respectively.
