With that verdict, the return of Ben Godfrey couldn’t be more timely.
He hasn’t played since the start of February where he was forced off in an FA Cup tie. His side has since lost four of the five games they’ve played without him at the back. He took to Instagram to share the following message:
They have conceded 11 goals in those four games, so Frank Lampard clearly needs to rectify that as soon as possible, with the return of Godfrey a boost. He’s started all 17 Premier League games that he has featured in this season, showing his importance to the Toffees.

The new Everton boss is ‘hopeful’ that Godfrey will be back for the clash with Wolves on Sunday. It would be perfect timing for him to return given the defensive frailties and criticism of late to try and prove people wrong and show Everton do have what it takes to stay up.
