Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Allan’s absence will be a massive loss to Everton boss Frank Lampard.

Allan has been a regular in the Everton side this season, featuring 23 times in the Premier League, whilst contributing with two assists. Unfortunately for Lampard, the Brazilian midfielder is set to miss Everton’s next two matches after he was shown a red card against Newcastle United.

The suspension has come at the wrong time for Everton as they find themselves well in the mix of a relegation scrap. They sit just one place above the bottom three, with just three points more than Watford who sit in 18th, albeit with two games in hand on the Hornets.

Whilst noticing the current situation that Everton find themselves in the league mixed with Allan’s suspension, O’Rourke spoke to GiveMeSport and highlighted just how big of a blow it is for Lampard to lose his Brazilian midfielder ahead of these crucial matches.

He said: “It’s a huge loss for Frank Lampard to lose Allan now for two games, and two big games as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Allan has been part of a struggling Everton side this season who have failed to find any form, and he has a real mixed bag in terms of stats in the Premier League.

He makes just under three tackles on average per game and has a passing accuracy of 80%, but he also gets dribbled past 2.7 times on average per game and wins possession of the ball just 0.5 times per game, as per SofaScore.

Despite his mixed performances this campaign, Allan has still been a mainstay in the midfield for his side this season and Lampard will need all the firepower that he’s got for the remainder of the season to give one last push to ensure Premier League safety.

Allan signed from Napoli for just over £21m, so you would expect that if Everton did get relegated to the Championship, he would certainly be one of the players who would leave in the summer and get snapped up by another club, so these next few weeks are crucial for all involved at Goodison Park.
