Lukasz Fabianski has sent a rallying call to West Ham United fans following the Hammers’ latest tough but important victory in midweek.

West Ham managed to grind out a 1-0 victory at home to relegation-threatened Watford, however, the scoreline makes it seem closer than it was in reality, with the Hammers keeping a clean sheet and only giving up one shot on target all game.

Will West Ham make the top four?

The Hammers decided to bring in a new goalkeeper over the summer in the form of Alphonse Areola, who made the fifth-most saves in the league last season, however, he’s not been able to dislodge 36-year old Fabianski, who’s kept six clean sheets this campaign and played every Premier League match thus far.

Fabianski told the West Ham fans in no uncertain terms on Instagram that the ‘fight is still on’ in reference to their chase for a place in Europe next season.

TIF Thoughts on Lukasz Fabianski…

Many may have presumed that the arrival of a ‘keeper from Paris Saint-Germain who had just put up some impressive numbers during his maiden Premier League campaign at Fulham would’ve spelt the end for Fabianski as the club’s No 1, but the 36-year old has knuckled down and proved he’s still good enough for this level.

So far this season, Fabianski has made the fifth-most saves in the league while also boasting a save percentage which ranks him inside the top 10 ‘keepers in the division, which should be enough for him to earn a new contract, which he was hopeful of getting last month.
