West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has provided an update on the situation regarding Kurt Zouma.

The situation surrounding the Frenchman has certainly become more intense in the past few days.

There were suggestions before their recent Premier League game that he was set to be dropped by the club over the incident surrounding his cat, only for him to then appear in the starting eleven for the clash with Watford, with Hammers boss David Moyes saying: “My job is to pick the best team I possibly could, find a way to get three points for West Ham.”

Which defender born in 1985 used to play for West Ham's academy?

The issue has become worse for the club, with sponsors beginning to withdraw their support for the team following their handling of the matter.

And writing in a post on his Patreon page, Ex has claimed that as things stand, Zouma appears as if he will keep his place in the Hammers side for their upcoming game in the Premier League against Leicester City, hinting that any further punishment won’t be handed out until ‘the full outcomes of investigations are concluded’.

He wrote: “We can reveal that the club have not yet suspended Zouma for the Leicester City game, despite reports elsewhere. They will make a decision on this once the full outcomes of the investigations are concluded.

“Once the investigators have presented their arguments to the club, then appropriate action for the defender will be decided. Zouma has already been fined two weeks’ wages, which have been donated to an animal charity and had his cats taken off him. We will update you when we have heard more.”

This is certainly a bit of a tricky situation for West Ham United to be in.

On one hand, they appear to have dealt with the matter internally, with their recent statement observing that they have fined him ‘the maximum amount possible’, with any further punishments set to come if and when any outside investigations are completed.

Whilst it’s not a case of guilty until proven innocent – as the footage seemed pretty clear-cut – it does seem like they would be jumping the gun a bit to be taking him out of the side completely at this stage of proceedings.

Although, perhaps if more and more sponsors decided to withdraw their support, the club might be forced into a decision a little bit quicker.
