Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United are ‘keeping tabs’ on talented winger Brennan Johnson ahead of a possible transfer.

In the past January transfer market, the Hammers failed to make a single signing. However, next summer they will have a chance to rectify that and may well target one of the Championship’s most exciting prospects.

Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex explained that the ‘impressive’ Nottingham Forest man was someone who is currently standing out as a potential option for the club in the future transfer window.

He explained his understanding of the situation, saying: “Other players that are on the radar that we are keeping tabs on with potential summer offers: one is a guy called Brennan Johnson.

“He plays for Nottingham Forest. I think he’s a winger, very highly rated and very impressive. He’s standing out a lot at Nottingham Forest and their recent resurgence, and a number of clubs are looking at him.”

TIF Thoughts on Brennan Johnson and West Ham…

Ex is right in his claim that Forest are having a bit of a resurgence. Indeed, the Championship club were bottom of the league and winless after seven games when they sacked Chris Hughton in September. After hiring Steve Cooper in his place, the club have since risen to ninth in the table and are now just three points off a promotion play-off spot.

At the very heart of that, Johnson has played in 31 league games while scoring nine times and registering a further five assists. Considering he is still only 20 years of age, it’s easy to see why West Ham are interested. He’s also more deadly in front of goal when it comes to converting chances as he has a conversion rate of 16% compared to Bowen’s 13%.

If the Hammers can end up in Europe at the end of this season, they may well look to bolster their squad with some more attacking options. It certainly seems as though the Forest man would be an exciting option to consider.
