Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks may be breathing a sigh of relief following Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the future of Marcelo Brozovic.

According to the Italian football journalist, Inter are set to extend the Croatian’s contract with an agreement between the two parties now reached.

Would you sell Winks in the summer?

Spurs had been heavily linked to the 29-year-old in recent months with his contract situation in Milan under scrutiny with just a matter of months remaining on his current deal.

And with the midfielder now expected to remain at the San Siro, could this keep the door open for Harry Winks to remain at Tottenham?

The Englishman has also had his future questioned with a potential exit from north London tipped for over a year now amid reported interest from the likes of Newcastle United.

Over the last few seasons, the 26-year-old’s game time at Spurs has taken a major blow with just 15 Premier League appearances to his name last season.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s spot in the starting XI has also been questioned after being dropped recently but is it Winks who will be breathing the biggest sigh of relief over Romano’s update?

TIF Thoughts on Winks’ future…

It has been claimed Antonio Conte is looking to add to his midfield in the summer with reports claiming Spurs are now prioritising a move for Franck Kessie in the summer.

Which does make us wonder where Winks’ spot in the squad would lie if Conte is to see a new midfielder come in during the summer as well as the potential returns of some of their on-loan stars.

Winks, who is valued at £15.3 million (as per Transfermarkt), has failed to nail down a consistent spot in Conte’s midfield since the Italian arrived in November with seven starts in the 13 Premier League games under the 52-year-old.

Since signing Rodrigo Bentancur in January, the Uruguayan has quickly made his mark on Conte’s starting XI with two starts in his opening three league games for the Lilywhites (via Transfermarkt).

And with Winks already struggling to convince Conte he should be one of his starting midfielders, we think missing out on Brozovic will certainly be a relief for the 26-year-old ahead of the summer market if he is hoping to remain a Spurs player.
