Tottenham Hotspur fans should get used to Antonio Conte’s negative reaction after a loss, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The football journalist was speaking on his latest YouTube video following the Italian’s fiery post-match press conference on Wednesday night at Turf Moor.

Do you expect Conte to be at Spurs for next season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Spurs were brought right back down to earth in Lancashire as they suffered defeat against a relegation-battling Burnley just days after beating Premier League leaders Manchester City.

“Maybe I’m not so good. Tottenham called me to change things but I’m too honest. I could just take my salary but I’m too honest. We’ve lost four out of five games. This is unacceptable,” said Conte after the game.

The Lilywhites now sit seven points adrift in the top-four race with two games in hand on Manchester United, but none on fifth-placed Arsenal.

With a third of the season still to play, Spurs do still have to play a lot of the teams in and around them in the race for the top four, so their destiny does still appear to be in their own hands – albeit their form needs to dramatically change.

Following Conte’s explosive press conference at Turf Moor, Romano believes Spurs fans should not be too worried about his position at the club, with this being a regular thing for Conte after a loss.

He said: “We’re talking about a man who wins everywhere he goes, but he has this kind of reaction when the team is not what he wants and when the results are not what he wants.

“Antonio Conte, when he’s losing a game, he goes mad. He can’t accept to lose one single game. So this is Antonio Conte’s mentality, and get ready, because this will always be Antonio Conte.”

TIF Thoughts on Antonio Conte’s future…

It is a really hard situation to judge at Tottenham currently, as there is certainly a lot of truth in what Conte is speaking about with regards to the club’s transfer policy.

However, you do have to question whether his words are coming at an appropriate time and place, given they are now outside of the transfer window and in the middle of some horrendous form.

We have no doubt that Spurs need big investment in the summer to add a lot more quality to their starting XI, however, Conte’s response does feel very reactionary given they are not mathematically out of the race for the top four.

It seems Conte is trying to put the pressure on the board ahead of the summer, but we do wonder whether he will even be at Spurs come next season if this form continues.

There is still a lot to play for this season at Spurs, however, we think for the north London club to have a chance of making European football, the mood around the club needs to dramatically improve.
