Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has discussed on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel how Spurs have kept the finer details of Giovani Lo Celso’s loan deal a secret.

The Argentine midfielder left Hotspur Way on Deadline Day on a short-term loan deal that saw him return to La Liga with Villarreal.

Who was the worse signing?

Reports have emerged following the transfer suggesting Unai Emery’s side have the option to make the deal permanent for the 25-year-old.

Tanguy Ndombele also departed on loan with the option to buy, however, reports have been able to put a fee on this clause, with it believed to be worth £54m.

Whereas, the reports to emerge on Lo Celso’s departure from Hotspur Way have been unable to suggest a possible fee for the Spanish side to purchase, leading Gold to say the following:

“Gio’s an interesting one, because we know there’s an option, but no one can seem to find out how much it is. It’s really cloaked in secrecy, that one, for some reason, we know there’s an option there.”

TIF Thoughts on Lo Celso’s departure…

We think Spurs will be hoping Lo Celso shows some improved form over in Spain in order to secure him a move away from north London on a permanent basis.

The Argentine has failed to show any signs of form since arriving from Real Betis in 2019, and left last month having provided just six assists in his 84 appearances.

And adding to his poor form in England, reports have emerged suggesting he is not particularly well thought of around the training ground.
