Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will leave the club in the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert has revealed the update on the future of the 24-year-old at Old Trafford on the latest edition of the Here We Go podcast.

Should Henderson leave on loan or permanently?

Henderson still has over three years remaining on his current deal with the Red Devils, however, he has struggled massively for game time since returning from his loan spell with Sheffield United.

And over the January window, Henderson was linked with a potential move away from the Theatre of Dreams, with Newcastle United believed to be interested in the goalkeeper.

With his future at United under serious question marks, Romano believes the summer will see the 24-year-old leave Old Trafford, with a loan move a possibility.

He said: “Dean Henderson will leave the club in the summer. Maybe on loan, but to have some opportunities to play.”

TIF Thoughts on Henderson’s future…

Just a couple of years ago, Henderson was playing regular Premier League football for Sheffield United, and since returning to Manchester, he has found it difficult to battle David de Gea for the No 1 spot.

And it seems like the Spaniard is keen to remain a United player as his contract nears its final year at Old Trafford, which would only put further doubt over Henderson’s spot in the squad.

We think the £16.2m-rated Henderson should definitely be looking to leave in some capacity this summer just to get back to playing regular first-team football.

However, we think De Gea’s potential new deal could play a big role in whether Henderson feels he could leave on loan and then come back to replace De Gea, or if United will continue to look to De Gea as their option for the foreseeable future.
