Journalist Dean Jones believes Manchester United are looking at RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku in the summer.

Nkunku has been in inspiring form this season in the Bundesliga, as he has scored 13 goals, and registered nine assists in 23 games, according to Transfermarkt.

Arsenal and Manchester United are the main clubs concerned with the 24-year-old’s signature, but if the Premier League clubs want their man, they will have to pay £75million, (Bild – in German).

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT, that United are “looking” at Nkunku, but other clubs are also interested, including French giants, PSG.

“I’m sure they are looking at Nkunku; I just find it hard to believe he won’t end up back at PSG. That’s the most obvious path for him to take. He’s been a star all season, even in a team that hasn’t always been doing well.” Jones reported to GIVEMESPORT.

Upgrade on Lingard?

After Lingard’s fine form last campaign for West Ham where he scored nine goals in 16 Premier League games,  he would have  been ready to be getting game time for the Red Devils, but this hasn’t been the case.

He has featured just 12 times in the league for United and is seemingly low in confidence with below-average displays – according to Sofascore he has an average rating of 6.66 in his last seven games.

Nkunku is similar to Lingard in his position as he primarily operates as a ‘number 10’ but can offer his services anywhere in the attacking area. But in difference to Lingard, Nkunku has been superb for his side this season and has an average rating of 7.53 over his past seven games, according to Sofascore. So, the Frenchman would certainly be an upgrade on the 29-year-old Englishman.

Partnership with Pogba?

Paul Pogba has had an up and down ride at Manchester United, with him hitting world-class form, and then producing poor displays. He hasn’t been able to form a partnership with anyone at the club on the pitch where they are on the same wavelength.

Although the £49.5m-rated Nkunku has yet to feature for France, there is no doubt that his form in this campaign will earn him a call up imminently.

Pogba is seemingly a different player for his country and produces consistent performances. So, maybe if United can bring in someone from the same nationality, then he could be the midfield partner for Pogba that United have been searching for.
