Joe Wainman has been speaking on his YouTube channel about the concern he has with Leeds United missing out on Brenden Aaronson.

Leeds did not manage to make a breakthrough in the transfer market, with Marcelo Bielsa claiming earlier in the window that any arrivals had to be better than what was already at his disposal.

Will Leeds sign Aaronson in the summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

That would imply that target Aaronson is better than the central midfielders who currently start at Elland Road, however, they couldn’t pay the required fee to RB Salzburg, who are still in the Champions League.

Wainman is worried about not signing Aaronson in the summer, especially if he has a good end to the current season.

He said: “We tried to sign Brenden Aaronson, of course, we didn’t want to go over £20 million. I’ve seen a lot of people saying that’s smart business and I understand it. I think the frustrating thing for me is I’m worried now. I think AC Milan are interested in him; Leipzig, who have a great relationship, obviously with Salzburg are interested.

“I’m worried that he’ll have a mint end [to the] season and then someone else will snap him up who’s playing in Europe.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ pursuit of Brenden Aaronson…

It should have come as no surprise that RB Salzburg were not willing sellers in the January transfer window as they are looking to pull off an upset in the Champions League against Bayern Munich and clinch a 10th successive Austrian league title. Meanwhile, Aaronson has started the majority of games this season, so he is clearly an important figure.

However, Leeds may have felt this was their best chance to strike up a deal. As Wainman alluded to, clubs such as RB Leipzig and Milan are both interested in the midfielder, and with those sides able to offer European football, it could make the move to Elland Road a lot harder to sell.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?
