Leeds United crumbled to a sorry defeat on Merseyside as Frank Lampard’s Everton walked all over the Yorkshire outfit, cruising to a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon, with Leeds having next to nothing in reply.

It was a strange day on the field, with Marcelo Bielsa receiving an abundance of criticism for his decisions before and during the game. At half time on Soccer Saturday, Clinton Morrison was left flabbergasted by Bielsa’s  decision to hook Raphinha.

Does Bielsa deserve more criticism?

Phil Hay also weighed in on the manager, slamming him for the game. He shared his thoughts on his Twitter where he said: “Now the dust has settled, some thoughts on yesterday. To a large extent, Bielsa walked into it with his choice of team. If you need a CDM and Klich isn’t suited to it, Adam Forshaw is an obvious answer. There were ways of keeping it simple, which is largely what Everton did.”

“A lot of what went wrong at Goodison is what’s been going wrong intermittently all season: defensive weakness combined with a struggle to build attacks. One of the problems compared to last season is that Leeds no longer match the goals they concede with the goals they score.”

“That the squad isn’t strong enough is unarguable – it definitely isn’t. Injuries are clearly one reason for that but when injuries are this relentless, perhaps it makes sense to mitigate against them. That’s something to seriously consider this summer.”

The result could be vital come the end of the season for both sides. The result brings Everton to within just one point of Leeds, with the Whites looking nervously over their shoulder. Another faltering performance sees them now just six points clear of the relegation zone.

Which comedian supports the Whites?

It clearly hasn’t been working for Leeds this season, who granted, have been unfortunate with injuries. However, judging by what Phil Hay has said it looks like Bielsa has been stubborn in selection and unwilling to change things even if needed.
