Football journalist Beren Cross has slammed Leeds United man Mateusz Klich after his most recent Premier League display.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men were very much not at the races over the weekend as they fell to a disappointing 3-0 away loss against Everton at Goodison Park.

Indeed, goals from Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, and Anthony Gordon were enough to see the Toffees claim all three points against a tepid Leeds effort.

After the game, Cross published his player ratings on LeedsLive, and it’s safe to say he wasn’t impressed with Klich’s efforts as he gave him a score of 3/10, writing: “This shape is never easy on those stationed down the centre, especially more attack-minded players like Klich, who was the biggest victim claimed by Everton’s 4-4-2 switch.

“Does not have the defensive attributes to play in the deeper role and never found the structure ahead of him to play a big part in attacks.”

Speaking on a LeedsLive Facebook stream, the writer doubled down on his feelings, saying: “Klich was not helped by his position, but he also just looked miles off it. He looked dishevelled, he looked tired.”

TIF Thoughts on Mateusz Klich and Leeds…

It’s safe to say Cross wasn’t at all happy with the 31-year-old. Despite his poor outing, the Poland international may well feature again next time out, as he has played 22 times for the club this season in all competitions.

Saying that, the midfielder only won one of his six duels in the match, as well as losing the ball nine times. He was then substituted at half time for Adam Forshaw, so that may suggest Bielsa is planning to move Klich out of the starting lineup in the coming weeks.

Either way, Leeds certainly need better performances from all their players if they are to avoid being pulled into a relegation fight in the final months of the Premier League season.
