Gary Neville has been speaking on his own podcast about how happy he is for Newcastle United to have a great atmosphere once again.

Newcastle managed to record their second win in a matter of days, with both of them coming in front of their home fans at St. James’ Park while stretching their unbeaten record to five in the Premier League.

Will Eddie Howe keep Newcastle up?

The Magpies created a raucous atmosphere last Tuesday night against Everton, which saw the Gallowgate End covered by a huge surfer flag, while new flags appeared before their match against Aston Villa, which appears to be helping create a noisy atmosphere.

Neville is delighted to see that happiness is back on Tyneside and that the club could finally be heading in the right direction.

He said: “I’ve been waiting for this, actually, for about 10 years at Sky Sports. I remember Newcastle when they were right up there fighting for the title and this is the best I’ve seen it in probably 10, 11 years of working for Sky.

“The feeling, the energy in the stadium, the performance was really good, the work rate of the players was really good – but it feels like St. James’ Park is back, and I can’t hear myself think.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle United and the atmosphere at the club…

The Sky Sports man was commentating on Newcastle’s latest victory, so he got to experience what the atmosphere was like first-hand, and for him to claim he couldn’t hear himself think even after the match had finished is testament to how great the Geordies were.

If Newcastle are to get away from the threat of relegation, they are going to need their fans to be the 12th man – especially at home matches, as having 52,000 fans screaming and shouting for 90 minutes will only help the players on the pitch when they are searching for that little bit of energy and quality.
