Presenter Joe Wainman has been speaking about the main problem with Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United on his YouTube channel.

The manager’s future has come into question within the media by the likes of Richard Keys, who questioned whether or not he’d have been sacked by now if Bielsa was an English manager, and while his nationality will have nothing to do with his future at Elland Road, one win in six matches could well do.

Bielsa admitted in his latest pre-match press conference that he’s worried about the situation Leeds find themselves in, but these fears may have been eased had he been more flexible and negotiable in terms of which transfer targets he wanted to bring in during January.

Wainman believes that Bielsa’s unwillingness t0 budge on the players he wants is a big problem.

He said: “Bielsa will only take a specific type of player. We were linked with Brenden Aaronson etc, apparently he turned down Van de Beek, Winks etc.

“So there’s a problem with him in that respect, but there’s also a problem with the club in not giving him the correct players, because it seems like it was only Aaronson he was like, ‘yeah, I’m good with that one’.”

TIF Thoughts on Marcelo Bielsa…

It would be very difficult to find many Leeds fans that weren’t still in love with and fully indebted to Bielsa for what he’s done to their club by taking them out of the Championship and into the Premier League, however, that doesn’t mean he’s exempt from criticism.

Bielsa was reportedly only interested in signing Brenden Aaronson in January and ultimately turned down loan moves for Harry Winks and Donny van de Beek, though while these may not have been major upgrades, they would have added depth to a very thin squad. Therefore, he may have to switch up his way of handling business at the club slightly to improve Leeds next season.
