Transfer insider Dean Jones believes that Everton need to bring in proven Premier League quality in the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard brought in Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek in the January transfer window and they both came to Goodison Park from clubs higher up in the table.

Now, Jones has told This is Futbol, that ahead of the new season, Everton will need to bring in “proven” Premier League players to sort out their bad away form.

“Going into a new season, that just cannot be a flaw that they have that they just can’t win away from home. So yeah, bringing in somebody with, I guess, proven Premier League quality, is what you would look for.”

TIF Thoughts on the comments…

Everton have struggled immensely away from home this season, and in their previous six games in the Premier League before Manchester City last night, they have won just once.

Van de Beek has yet to prove himself in the Premier League given his disappointing spell at Manchester United, but he has ‘impressed‘ Toffees manager Frank Lampard in his short time at Goodison Park so far.

Everton’s transfer strategy has not quite worked in previous years after they have looked to bring in players from abroad, such as Cenk Tosun, and they haven’t fulfilled their potential.

By bringing in players who already have experience playing in the tough away conditions of the Premier League will surely see an increase in their form away from Goodison Park.
