Everton should be looking to take the money and run when it comes to Tom Davies following his latest injury update.

The 23-year-old’s season has been disrupted by a number of injuries that have kept him out of action for the vast majority of it, and taking to Instagram recently, he claimed that he would not be back until next season.

What was the fee for Everton paid for Fabian Delph?

Davies currently sees his value with the CIES Football Observatory – a website that has developed a powerful econometric approach to assess the transfer value of professional footballers on a scientific basis – set at €7m-€10m (between £5.8m and £8.3m), which is a reasonable fee for someone who has established himself pretty much as a Premier League regular over the past few years.

With that in mind and following his latest news surrounding his injury – as well as the one that he picked up earlier in the season – Everton should be looking to sell him off as soon as they can, because pretty soon, he could start to be labelled as injury-prone, and they’d be better off trying to cast him off onto someone else before his value decreases any further.

TIF Thoughts on Tom Davies and his value to Everton…

Should Everton sell Tom Davies?

Yes!

No!

No!

Everton boss Frank Lampard hasn’t had a real transfer window in which he can properly get to grips with the side that he wants to build, as he himself was appointed very late in the January window.

So any money that he can get that he can use to mould the squad in his own image should be greatly appreciated.

Plus, it’s not as if Davies has been pulling up trees this season when he has had the opportunity to play, ranking 23rd in the team when it comes to tackles per game with 0.6, joint-19th for interceptions per game at 0.4, joint-16th for aerial duels won with 0.6 and an overall rating of 6.3, which is 23rd within the side (via WhoScored).

Indeed, he’s not featured for the club since July and the club secured the services of Dele Alli in January, which adds to the competition in the centre of midfield, with the likes of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph already at the club, so it’ll be even harder for him to work his way back.

So they need to use a combination of those factors to try and get rid of him as soon as possible, or risk carrying around a deadweight that is just holding them back.
