Alan Shearer has posted his Team of the Week on Instagram, which includes Newcastle United duo Ryan Fraser and Joelinton.
Fraser, who played under Eddie Howe earlier in his career, has been a revelation since being handed a chance in the Newcastle starting lineup, having registered his only goal contributions of the season under the new boss – and kept up his good form with a beautiful cross for Joelinton to head in on Saturday.

That link-up play between Fraser and Joelinton also saw the former net only his second of the season, but it’s what he did all over the pitch that was so impressive, finishing the game having won the most tackles and carried the ball into the final third the most in the Newcastle side.
Shearer, who picked a Team of the Week for the Premier League, claimed, ‘You know it makes sense!’ about the players he’s selected, including the Newcastle duo.

It’s a testament to Eddie Howe and his management style that two players who were struggling for form and consistency under former manager Steve Bruce are now being picked in a Team of the Week and part of a Newcastle side that are unbeaten in their last seven league matches.
Joelinton specifically has thrived under Howe and has even been able to form a great relationship with Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock in midfield, thus keeping fellow Brazilian and record signing Bruno Guimaraes out of the team, but it’s safe to say that few could have predicted this turnaround at the start of the season.
