Antonio Conte has informed Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga that he will remain at the north London club this month.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, who was speaking about the 22-year-old’s future on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel.

Tanganga has had his time at Spurs questioned in recent weeks, with the defender believed to have been a possible loan target for Italian giants Milan this month.

However, with Spurs unable to bring in a new right wing-back – as it stands – it seems the Tottenham youth product will not be moving on before the window shuts.

And with Monday’s transfer deadline quickly approaching, Thomas provided the following update on what he had heard from inside Hotspur Way on Tanganga’s conversation with Conte:

“We put some information out on him earlier today [Thursday], made some more checks with people on him today, and was told that he’s going to stay. Apparently, Antonio Conte has told the player and the club that he wants him to stay.”

TIF Thoughts on Tanganga’s future…

It has been a really tricky couple of weeks for the Spurs youngster, having had some really poor games against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

However, with the Lilywhites failing to add to their options in defence with just three days remaining of the window, we are not surprised that Conte will look to keep Tanganga at the club this month.

Despite his poor form recently, his man-of-the-match performance against Manchester City on the opening day of the campaign should provide fans with some optimism that his recent form is just a bad spell.
