Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has been speaking live on air about a potential summer move for Franck Kessie to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Milan midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation this month linking him with a potential move to the Lilywhites.

When should Spurs go for Kessie?

However, with the Ivory Coast international away playing in the Africa Cup of Nations, it appears the midfielder could be in line to remain with the Serie A side for the remainder of the season.

The midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, leaving him as a free agent and with free rein as to who he would like to join come the summer.

But with other Premier League clubs said to be interested in the 25-year-old, Bridge provided the following claim which may excite a few Spurs fans ahead of the next transfer window:

“We mentioned Franck Kessie. Don’t be too surprised if he ends up in north London this summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Kessie to Spurs…

Given the likes of Liverpool are believed to be interested in the Ivory Coast international, we think it would be a huge coup if Spurs could acquire Kessie as a free agent.

However, leaving any deal until the summer could be a big risk for Spurs, with the player then free to make his own demands, which could well put Spurs out of the race.

We think Tottenham should be pushing for a new midfielder this month with their current options not exactly proving much of a threat in front of goal.

Kessie predominantly plays as a defensive-minded midfielder, however, he has shown this season he is capable of finding the back of the net, with five goals in Serie A this season (via Transfermarkt).

Given his versatility shown in the Milan midfield, there could well be a lot of competition for the Lilywhites to fight off if he is to become a free agent at the end of the season.
